Virginia Beach: Unexplained Lights and Explosion
Questioning what really happened the night of March 29th Sunday evening when lights were seen and an explosion was heard?
Around 9:45 on Sunday night March 29th people from Maryland to North Carolina reported seeing a flash of light in the sky and hearing a loud explosion that shook the foundations of thousands of homes. The Virginia Beach 911 emergency call center was flooded with calls from hysterical citizens looking for answers. Some have reported the lights as “streaking through the sky,” while others report hearing up to four separate explosions since it first occurred. It is now 1:37 AM on the east coast and no information is forthcoming. Authorities are baffled because no evidence of an explosion can be found anywhere. The National Weather Service is just as clueless. They have been in contact with Nasa, the Navy and Air Force and they have nothing unusual to report.
People are frightened and are searching for answers high and low but none can be found. What was this light and explosion? Was it a meteorite? Was this the government conducting some sort of secret experiment that suddenly went wrong? Or could it be some sort of terrorist attack? Some would even argue that we are being invaded by aliens. But, the simple fact of the matter is that no one knows anything as of yet. Let’s explore some of these theories.
Meteorite

This will probably be the most likely explanation based off of the eyewitness reports. Many report seeing a streaking light in the sky. Some eyewitnesses describe this streaking light as being orange on the front end of it and blue on the trailing end. However, the perpetual curiosity with this unusual event is that there still has not been any evidence found of any kind of impact or explosion. This explosion was heard and felt all over the region. Many said they felt their houses shake. There was another similar event that happened in our history with one inconsistency. The 1909 Tunguska explosion in northern Siberia is similar in the sense that nothing has ever been found to prove what caused the explosion. There have been no meteor fragments found and soil samples return no results of containing any minerals and elements that one would expect to find in a meteor. The inconsistency between that event and the Virginia Beach explosion is that there is no evidence of anything happening other than the explosion and the light, whereas the forest in Tunguska was flattened for miles. So, the jury is still out on the meteorite theory in both instances.
Alien Invasion

An alien invasion is unlikely but, not impossible. Right? Strange sightings have been reported of unidentified air crafts flying in and out of the ocean near coastlines. These are also known as USO’s (unidentified submerged objects). The simple fact that there is currently no evidence explaining what actually happened will leave it wide open for speculation and some sort of alien cause would be no less credible than any other theory at this point. However, if there are alien races occupying any part of our universe, the fact is that we nothing at all about them and can, therefore, not make any educated assumptions as to aliens being the cause of this event.
Experiment Gone Wrong

Tesla Coil
After seeing those videos, not much more needs to be explained concerning the possible implications of experimenting with the planet’s electro-magnetism. I should explain one curious coincidence before closing this theory. Nikola Tesla was a Siberian-American scientist and he invented the Tesla coil in 1891. He is also responsible for the AC power (alternating current) we use in our homes today. It was him that knew the potential of harnessing and discharging huge amounts of voltage. It was also theorized by some in 1909, that U.S. military experiments with a tesla coil was the cause of the Tunguska explosion. They claim that it caused a large discharge of electro-magnetic energy to travel through the earth and come back out of the earth in Tunguska. Once again, this is another theory that is no less believable than the previous ones. It is kind of curious that nothing has been reported in the major media since this event first took place. It has been several hours since this happened and neither CNN nor Fox News have reported on it. That is quite interesting, is it not?
Terrorist Attack

A bright flash of light and with an explosion following could be the affects of a dirty bomb detonation. However, we are still missing one key ingredient, evidence of an explosion. If a dirty bomb were detonated there would definitely be immediately recognizable evidence of an explosion. Also, people would be reporting the affect of radioactive fallout like nausea and a metallic taste in their mouths but, they have not. Now, one could still theorize that some well funded terrorist cell could get a hold of some secret weapon unknown to the mainstream public and used it against us. Sure, it is possible but, not probable.
As it stands right now the only facts that we do know is that there was an unexplained bright light in the sky followed by an explosion heard and felt for hundreds of miles around the region. The authorities have also definitely ruled out the possibility of lightning. For some this is a very frightful situation and for others it is exciting. We all must entertain the possibilities of all theories, including those not mentioned here, since no others can be eliminated at this point based on the very limited facts we currently have. Only time will tell what actually happened this evening as the facts of the matter unfold before us. But, what happens when we find no other facts? Then what? What if we never hear anything about it in the major media? What would the implications of that be? I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a part of the excited group.

Interesting stuff.
Sounds like the sound barrier being broken. We get that often when the space shuttle returns here in central Florida, sonic boom shakes everything for miles, but no harm done.

That was really interesting and it is really weird that the news hasn’t said anything about it. You’d think it’d be an interesting enough topic for the news…

Thank for the comments, my friends. I am not much of a conspiracy theorist or anything but, it is strange that it has not been reported on yet.

I actually saw the bright orange “fire ball” that fell from the sky while I was driving down toward Virginia Beach last night. It sounds crazy, I know, but I saw it with my own two eyes and while it is really unnerving, it is very interesting that they aren’t sure what it is yet. My guess? Space debris of some kind that probably landed just off of the coast.

I live in VB. My husband and I were watching TV when we heard the noise. My husband thought it was thunder, but I thought it strange because it only happened once and it wasn’t raining or looking particularly stormy. They’re talking about it on local radio but no one knows what it was just yet.

I live in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach. I was out in my garage working on my car when the entire garage starting shaking like it was going to tear itself apart. I heard the rumbling; but knew it wasn’t thunder. I assumed that a nearby tree had fallen as that was all I could think to cause the noise and shaking. I didn’t see any brightening of the sky at all.

I felt the tremor last night and thought it was super powerful thunder at first. But when I looked outside, it didn’t seem stormy at all. And it didn’t sound like thunder – it was just a deep rumble. I was definitely nervous for a little while!

I couldn’t help humming the song “Hypnotized” by Fleetwood Mac while reading this. Fits this theme perfectly. Odd, odd stuff. I’d like to hear the official explanation on this.
Great article, and vids, REP!

We also live in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach, I was in my bedroom and my husband was in the backyard. I heard the boom and jumped up to see what it was. My husband said the backyard lit up and he looked up and saw something fly by that looked like a big fire ball. He said the boom was about a minute after the sighting.

well great day
you would think the media would be all over this unless there is some sort of cover up.. what if it was a terrorist attack…myspace had a few bulletins about it being a terrorist attack..obviously there is no way to seperate truth from fiction being it myspace …but some person said she got the info from a high ranking military official in the VB area. sounds about right…if a terrorist attack was coming do you think they would warn us…did they for 9/11..NO did they tell us about the astroid that almost hit EARTH?…yes they did, AFTER it had passed us and was no longer a threat. seems to me the government agencies would report nothing out of the ordinary when clearly something happened and there is no local news reporting going on about the subject…sounds like a cover up to me…

I live in the Kempsville area right near the ballfields on KVille and saw the flash, followed by the boom but did not see anything flying over.
Interesting though that just a couple of months ago we had the whole “keyless remotes” issue across the way in the P-town area. All of the vehicle keyless entry remotes in a wide radius simply quit working one morning. Just stopped. Then about two weeks ago, Chrysler called me on the phone and said I was to expect a call from our dealer to let us know that new remote entry keys for our Dodge were ordered in and ours would have to be replaced.
I asked why since our remotes were working fine and Chrysler simply said that our particular fobs had to be replaced and ended the conversation. Two days later Greenbrier Dodge called me and said we needed to return our keyless for the new ones so, we did…
Not sure what to make of all of this – probably just coincedence but…

I go with the alien invasion theory, but invasion is not the correct word here, because if they came with the mission to invade earth, they would have done long before when the earth was vulnerable.
perhaps a visit to earth maybe, and then something went wrong.

Keyless remote mystery in Virginia town
PORTSMOUTH, VA: You’re probably accustomed to using your keyless remote to lock and unlock your car door.
But for some reason this week, folks in Portsmouth, Virginia couldn’t get theirs to work.
“When I try to leave, I get to my car, I try to use my entry and nothing,” said homeowner Sheila Figueroa.
Figueroa’s problem soon became her son’s.
“My son pulls up, he’s in his car, as soon as he pulls up I noticed him standing in front of his car pushing his remote. And I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ And he said, ‘My remote’s not working. It was working a little while ago.’”
The invisible force wasn’t just outside her home. It was affecting her entire neighborhood.
“I kept noticing alarms going off all over the place,” said resident Lori Crouch.
Portsmouth police officers were experiencing the problem too.
“The remote unlocking device they have on their key rings was not working,” said Jan Westerbeck of the Portsmouth Police Department.
Calls to the military, surrounding shipyards and the power company all yielded the same result – they said it wasn’t them.
Dr. Kyo Song of Norfolk State University, an expert on electro-magnetic interference, says whatever it was had a frequency close enough to the remotes to render them useless.
In our high-tech world you can expect more moments of silence.
“You see the wireless phone and it generates to megahertz, to now gigahertz level, and everything is heading that direction, but nobody is filtering,” Song said.
Several people ended-up buying new batteries hoping that would fix the problem.

Great story, RE. You will have to follow up if you find out anything new. Nevermind-Locgloc ninigong just called me on my alien communication device in my tooth’s crown and told me to let you guys know that he was on an interstellar cruise when he decided to stop in and get some Taco Bell! He knew he should have waited to get out of the atmosphere, but he just loves that stuff! Oh, but the gas…Anyways he said sorry if he scared you guys!

There have been many weird incidents which haven’t been fully explained. On top of that , anything dealing with UFOs or USOs is surrounded by secrecy and restrictions. I do believe there are other life forms out there,if we exist, why not them?
The question is whether they have visited us or not. I think they have, not so much because of today’s weird lights in the sky, but because of ancient evidence suggesting that they have.

i was driving into Richmond Va on 64 east when i saw what looked to be a NASA rocket flying upside down heading straight for the earth. There was a bright white light with some blue comming out of the rear propulsion area. Just before the craft got to the tree line it broke in two and I braced for a Hollywood impact complete with shockwave and everything. i got nothing which makes me believe the incident happened very fat away. The object was absolutely huge, and i believed it to be the size of a full blown Apollo type craft, but could be much larger now that I believe it to have landed somewhere by the coast.

It would be great to finally get someone to present the truth. We certainly get tired of being insulted with stupidity or denials as answers. It is obvious that something major hit the earth in the area of VB. It would seem to be space junk, however space junk would not have jolted multi-states on the east coast. It is also worth commenting, that if it hit the water as other untruths were posted the impact would not have resignated throughout the east coast as it did. I say let the truth come forth so that we as a public can deal with it.

It’s definetely hush hush or else unknown. Not tesla I know, but maybe it is somehow related to the volcanic and earthquake activity on the westcoast. Still I’m going with the possibility it was a meteorite or a secret naval defense test.

i live in virginia beach near the lesneer bridge and i was out back having a fire with my friends wheni got blinded by a blue light and i thought it was a helocopters spotlite it was so bright. then about a minute later i heard an explosion andmy friend thought it was a ships howitzer since we live so close to the navy base. then this morning i got up and turned on the radio and it said it was a meteorite and if it hit earth it would cause a nuclear explosion that would kill everyone from the east tip of north carolina to maryland and part of delaware plus wipingout virginia at the same time

This was a very interesting story. Wonder why no one has made a comment on it…news and such. Things like this don’t just happen. People need to know what it was. Cool how you stayed calm during this, REP. Thanks for the great story. You tell them really well and I for one enjoyed reading it. I will be checking to see if you have any more news. Thanks again.

I had not heard a thing on this story until I read your article. The stories that it might be aliens sounds a bit crazy and insane, but I also wonder what these “unexplained lights and explosion” really were! I hope once the news media finds out what it really was, that someone will cover the story and let the public know, especially if it really was something as serious as a terrorist attack!

Recent assumptions suggest that a portion of a Russian space shuttle fell to earth causing what was witnessed in Virginia Beach last night. Just a couple thins are wrong with this. One, the persistent fact that no physical evidence appears to exist at all. Two, thportion of the Russian space shuttle was expected. It entered the earth’s atmosphere over Taiwan almost two hours after the even in Virginia Beach. The jury is still out folks!

That’s the first I heard of it, but one of Clive Cussler’s stories, “Polar Shift” dealt with the Tesla Theory. I thought that it was far fetched, but this story was consistent with the type of side effects of the that you have documented. Basically, this was dealing with an attempt to change the magnetic poles of the earth.

We were out walking late sunday night in Newport News, Virginia when the entire sky lit up behind us. I turned around to watch what I thought at the time was a flare burn out in the sky above the trees. I still think what I saw was a flare, but why was someone shooting off a flare over a lake in the woods at 10pm? And then this? I heard no explosions, but I did notice the windy conditions and the night sky was absolutely clear and the stars were bright. Something weird is happening, folks. I’ve already seen flying orbs of light over that same lake 2 years ago.

Have not made my mind up yet what HAARP is all about. It sort of resembles some of the proposed Tesla defense weaponry. I just don’t buy into this ‘every excuse is a weather related study’ that the Gov’t doles out. :-
