What are Your Dreams Telling You?

Keeping a dream diary is really worthwhile. You might just amaze yourself!

We all dream but not everyone remembers their dreams. People often say that they “don”t dream’ but this isn’t true. Everyone dreams, every night. Dream sleep is part of the natural process of rest and repair for the body, but it can also provide a window into another, much more mysterious part of life.

Dreams can be predictive. They can come as a flash in which a whole scenario is played out before your eyes (sleeping eyes), or as little snippets that don’t seem to be at all significant. This is where a dream diary is invaluable. All you need is a notebook and a pen which you keep by your bed side.

When you wake in the night, or in the morning, cultivate the habit of recording whatever you can remember from your dreams. It might be specific things, or even a general feeling. Did you ever wake up feeling very low, unhappy and depressed, and not know why? The odds are that you dreamed something that made you feel that way. The more you do this, the more you will train yourself to remember.

I have had several incidences where I dreamed about something, noted it in my dream book and found out later that it was predictive. Small insignificant details often build into a picture. I recently dreamed of a small blue car that was parked beside a red door. Every time I walked past it, it had a scratch on the back end that got bigger. The number 17 kept being shown to me in big black numbers.

A few days later I heard that my father had parked his little car, which is blue, outside his friend’s house (red door, number 17) and while he was in the house, a passing car had scraped the rear off side wing. The dream in itself was not significant but the value of the dream book is demonstrated here. If I hadn’t kept a record, I wouldn’t have been certain about the predictive quality of that dream.

I have had other mind blowing dreams with details so precise that I couldn’t believe it! There’s a bit more about them here.

I don’t believe that this requires any special gifts, or powers. It is something we are all able to naturally, if we really want to access it. We, as human beings, only use 90% of our brain capability. There are many wonderful and amazing things we can do, if we take the trouble to discover them.

I beleive that we are born with it too, it only works if we listen.

I think you’re right Lucy. I have kept a dream book for years and have noticed many similarities to life. Dreams in the morning before I waken usually are a warning for me. It’s a long story.

Wow!! I have always been interested in what dreams mean…but the fact that you actually have kept track and then had your dream come true is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I want to start keeping track of my dreams now – I never thought of keeping a dream dictionary before! Thank you for the great idea!

    Best wishes!

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

I’ve always been interested in the differences between the psychologist and the spiritualists’ interpretation of dreams. For example, does a dream about losing teeth mean non-specific anxiety or will you be coming into money?

That’s the whole point of the article. There is a difference between the two and recording dreams helps to make that distinction. By the way, I work as a full time psychic/holistic therapist but I have a psychology degree!

I had a dream last night. At first I was in this dark world that was just above some white clouds. My friend and her boy friend were there too. Then we went fairy hunting. The fairy stabbed my grandpa in the eyes. When I asked her why she said that I had said that I would never leave them. Then in my dream I had a flash back and I actually remeber having a dream when I was about two years old. In that dream I had promised the fairies that I would never leave them. This dream felt real and I feel like the fairies were trying to tell me something. Like a warning. Before I had gone to bed I had been looking up optical illusions. I also saw an S on the little metal stick that sticks out of the door.
