A Not So Beautiful Letdown

Im pretty sure you’ve all heard about Chris Brown and Rihanna’s situation that consisted basically of Chris beating her up, because…well the reason is still pretty unclear but we do know for sure that he hit her and gave her a couple of contusions on her head along with other bruises and scratches all over her face and body.

This basically ruined Grammy day for the both of them, because neither could perform as scheduled.  And besides the fact that Chris will probably lose most of his endorsements thus losing money, his reputation is down the toilet now.  Hes no longer seen as the pretty-boy-super-talented-groupie-magnet R&B singer, now most people can only label him as one thing: an abuser.

Now the part I don’t understand is why a kid that is so talented would want to do something like this.  Especially when he said he used to see his mother get abused by men.  Seeing that should teach him not put a woman through the same pain that those men put his mother through.  But no, instead he decides to twist it around and do the same to Rihanna.  I understand that its a hard thing to get over seeing that kind of thing happen to your own mother, but its not all just pain its also a LEARNING experience.  Not an invitation (or should I say excuse) to do it to someone else.  Lets face it- Chris knew better.  But hes not the only one to blame, and hes not the only one who lost his reputation.

I honestly don’t think Rihanna did anything to make the situation better either.  When someone you’re with hits you they have definitely crossed the line beyond forgiveness.  And Rihanna didn’t even take that into consideration, she just let him back in THAT EASILY.  She went from up and coming Pop princess to an abused woman in only one night.  I don’t think we will ever see her the same way again either. She too will lose most of her endorsements and just like Chris, she let down all the girls out there who listened to her music and looked to her as a role model.  She didn’t stand up for girl power like a real woman would have done.  Most importantly, she didn’t even stand up for herself.  Which is the worst part.  Rihanna isn’t ugly, or fat, and she’s worth a lot not only in money, but I’m sure as a person (not that I know her personally).  She doesn’t NEED to stay with Chris and especially if he is beating her.  She could replace him in a heartbeat and if she don’t know that by now she needs to find out real soon.

i think we all spend far too much time cannonizing celebrities. take away their record contracts, and he’s simply an abusive jerk, and she’s an idiot for putting herself back into that situation. he deserves to watch his career go down the toilet… she’s an amazing talent, and career wise will be fine. well written piece.
