A Role Model for my Daughter
It is not Miley Cyrus, it is not Demi Lovato.Michelle Obama is much better.
Yesterday I was surfing the net, peeping into the world of young girls online. My daughter is still an infant-just turned six months last week, but when it comes to parenting it is never to early to get prepared right? What I found disturbed me greatly.
Let me start with Miley Cyrus. She is young talented and is super rich. Anyone would love to have a daughter like that, you must be thinking. But not so fast. Many mothers look at her and are worried sick about the world their daughters will inherit. The problem I have with Cyrus is her image. I do not know her personally; I will refrain from commenting on her personal life. Her professional life out in public life troubling enough.
Miley Cyrus presents a much sexualized image, not suitable for a teenager. The way she dresses and her recent photo shoots-all point towards a child who is tuning into a woman too soon and she is using “sexy image” as a guiding light into the world of fleeting Hollywood fame.
Cyrus’ parents are to blame for this but I cannot wait for them to take charge and clean up. Miley Cyrus is being pushed to be next Lindsey Lohan and it is sad. I don’t want my daughter to look at her and think it is ok to dress provocatively in order to get noticed or it is ok to dump modesty to be successful.
I don’t want my daughter to wear the hijab but she has to learn the value of modesty and Miley Cyrus is definitely not going to show her that.
First Lady Michelle Obama on the other hand stands tall and proud and is perfect for my little girl. She is Ivy League educated with successful career and great family. Michelle Obama presents a wholesome picture of modern woman and that is what I want for my daughter. I want my daughter to value education, country and family and not be afraid to be herself.
Michelle Obama is just the woman I want my daughter to look for inspiration. Miley Cyrus and starlets like her are not going to be in her books.

I think Miley Cyrus is a role model but that’s for the creative and fun side of teenagehood. Every teen wants to have their bit of fun. Personally, I don’t particularly like her but you are right, she’s grown up too fast and I’d want to be a teen for as long as I could. Good article but it’s always the mature ones that are the true role models.
