But he had a long career as actor and famous dressing gown before. He was twice nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor in 1961 and 1962. He was born in September 1927 in New York began working in television in 1957. Peter Falk belonged to a Jewish family with a Russian father and a Czech mother. At the age of 3 years and lost an eye due to malignancy. He studied Political Science and was rejected by the CIA, U.S. Information Agency, when he applied for a job within the institution. 

The reason for rejection: was a member of the Chefs and stewards while he was in the Merchant Marine, even if it was forced to join and has been active in the Union.
