American Idol 2010: 10 Young Men Perform

American Idol cycle continues as the 10 remaining young men compete in a 2-hour episode.

Michael Lynche sings “This is a Man’s World.” Randy loves it, and he tells him that he is an “RB Star.” It is unbelievable how much he has changed in such a short time. Ellen adds that he is fantastic. It is a great start to tonight’s show. Kara tells him that he “owned it tonight.” Simon says that it is a big overnight change. It is his best performance, so far, and he was perfect. He sang the right song and everything about his performance fits him.

John Park, 21, sings, but Randy doesn’t like it. He tells John that his version wasn’t as good as the original. It just didn’t seem special to him. But Ellen says that it is the right song choice for him. He just needs to feel the song better. Kara adds that it is better than last week. He just needs to connect, take a risk, and get out of his comfort zone. Simon agrees with Kara that it is better than last week. It just doesn’t seem believable. He is forgettable because he doesn’t seem authentic.

Casey James, 27, sings “I don’t wanna be.” Randy loves it because it is the right song choice and music for him. Ellen adds that it is great. Everything is there, but he is just a little too stiff. She wants to see more performance and movement from him. Kara feels that he went two steps backwards and his notes were off. Simon agrees with Kara. And, he adds that Casey is trying to be a rock star. But he just doesn’t have the “grit” in this song or his performance.

Alex Lambert, 19, sings “Everyone Knows.” Randy feels that it is an improvement from last week. He enjoyed and liked his performance. Alex found his own niche. He just needs more confidence. Ellen agrees that he is better than last week. He just needs more confidence and experience. He is the most unique male singer here. She likes his performance. Kara agrees that Alex improved. He is incredible and recordable. He made a great improvement from last week. Simon also agrees that Alex is a million times better. He just needs to connect with the song and do his best. He should use his “killer instinct” by proving that he really wants to be here.

Todrick Hall, 24, sings a Tina Turner song, “What’s Love Got to do with it.” Randy tells him to just sing and not change anything from the song. Ellen adds that she wants him to just sing, move and perform. He should use his strengths in his performance, which is dancing, in order to make his music come alive. But she feels that the song wasn’t the right song choice. Kara adds that he is likeable. She agrees that he needs to move and perform. In this performance, he was all over the place. Simon tells him that it was corny as well as a bad version of the original.
