Surprise surprise, Amy Winehouse has been pictured yet again with white powder hanging out of her nostrils. She has a top music career, she’s certainly not low on money and she has a husband she loves. So why does she proceed to wreck all this by poisoning her body and her reputation with all these drugs?

Is this just a desperate cry for help that no one is replying to? Or is she just another attention seeking drama queen?

If I had her talent and opportunities I would certainly not be ruining it by getting drunk before going on stage or dabbling in illegal substances. I would have thought having her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, publicly thrown in jail would have been a strong wake up call. Not damn likely after the pictures from Tuesday night’s gig in Blackpool or even from her opening gig in Birmingham National Arena where a local newspaper reported how she arrived half an hour late, swore at the audience calling them “f***ing mugs for buying the tickets” and only managed four songs “slurring her words and swaying all over the place”.

I for one have had enough.

How can a girl with well known bulimia, drug and alcohol problems still be allowed on our TV screens regularly? Surely we should be locking her up and throwing her away the key so she doesn’t poison the minds of her innocent fans? At the age of 24 she should be mature enough to realise her role-model figure but all she does is throw her problems into the limelight. She’s hardly someone I would want my children admiring.

Today society is giving the impression that you can get away with drugs if you have that little bit of money in your pocket. Take Pete Docherty for example, everyone knows he is using class A substances, but has anything been done to knock some sense into him? No. Its time something was done and today’s music scene was discussed for its sounds not for the obscenities that surround it.
