Anti-gay Jamaican Reggae Singer on Drugs Charges
Buju Banton is nominated for a grammy for his new album and Gays are calling the move appalling because even if his album has artistic merit, a grammy should not be given to a person that propounds violence.
Reggae Singer Buju Banton was arrested and charge with possession of and distribution of cocaine in florida. Mark Myrie whose stage name is Buju Banton has been the center of the Gay rights lobbying group attention due to a his song boom bye bye. Buju Banton song claimed that homosexuals should be murdered. Homosexual lobby groups have been trying to get Banton to recant on his lyrics and charges against homosexuality.
Fans of Buju Banton are claiming that he is being framed by Gays as a mean of “donning” his career. Buju Banto says that he will not renounce his stance since Homosexuality goes against his religion and culture. Jamaican culture stipulates that man has a right to practice his religion and culture however he should not be advocating violence against those that do not support his religious tenets. Some thinkers are claiming that Rastafarianism does not support homosexuality, and it is not the only religion that denounces Gays, therefore why is Buju being targeted by the Gay Rights groups.

People have the right to voice their positions; Its called free speech, however, if it has a negative effect upon the lives of others (including violence and prejudice)…they might be reminded that the irresponsible use of free speech can have severe consequences even if no one prevents them from using it, and the consequence come from another (but fair) direction.

Ask yourself this question: If Mark Myrie had conducted a 20+ year campaign against African Americans, calling for their deaths, or if he had conducted a 20+ year campaign of calling for the deaths of Jews, would he be nominated for a Grammy award by the Recording Academy?
What is your answer? Does it prove that there is a double standard?
The Recording Academy should be ashamed for making this fourth nomination of Mark Myrie (Buju Banton). And they should be ashamed for giving Beenie Man (”slit throats of gays”) a Grammy in 2001.
