Asin, as she is popularly known, is a beautiful south Indian actress born on 26 October 1985 in Kochi, Kerala. Being a Malayali girl and of Christian background her name is not quite in mix with the south Indian film actresses names. But with her excellent performance she made her name, Asin, a popular name in the south Indian region. She didn’t stop at south Indian film industry, and went on to Bollywood to establish her popularity there.

Her debut film in Malayalam Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001 is not a hit film. But her later films since 2003 like Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Shivamani 9848022338, Lakshmi Narasimha, Gharshana, M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi (Tamil version of Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi), Ullam Ketkumae, Majaa, Varalaru, Pokkiri, Vel, etc. are huge hits and skyrocketed her acting career to new heights in Tollywood (Telugu film industry) and Kollywood (Tamil film industry). Her recent films Dashavatharam in Tamil in 2008, Ghazini in Hindi in 2008, are also big hits.

With Ghazini being huge hit of 2008 and also successfully overcoming competition or suppressing the popularity of another Hindi film of the time, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Asin’s debut into Bollywood has been the talk of the town. She had won best female debut award for Ghazini. Asin won many best actress awards for her performances in films like Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi and Ghazini (Tamil & Telugu).
