South Indian actress Colors Swathi was born on 9 April 1984 in Vladivostok in United States of Soviet Russia. She is from a Telugu background but her father was a naval officer and hence worked in USSR as a submariner during those times when India and USSR had good strategic relations. When she was born she was given a Russian name Svetlana by doctor but her mom changed it to Swathi meaning cute little girl.

Actress Colors Swathi’s original name is Swathi Reddy. But she got Colours as her name because of her anchoring in a popular Television show called Colours which makes the anchor (Swathi) chat with the audience on phone. She was good at such anchoring and being cute and smart in talking she did well to rise the show to huge popularity on Maa Television channel. Her popularity as an anchor paved way for her into the South Indian film Industry.

Swathi actress spent her time in USSR, Vizag, Bombay and Hyderabad as she grew up. She did graduation in Biotechnology course in St. Mary’s in Yousuf Guda after writing popular competitive exam EAMCET of Andhra Pradesh state. While studying first year, she got the chance to act in the first Telugu film Danger in 2006, which made her debut in the Telugu film Industry (Tollywood). Though it was not a hit she got another chance to act as supporting actress in hit Telugu film Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule in 2007 during her second year. This got her more recognition as an aspiring actress. Her next Telugu film Ashta Chemma in 2008 not only became hit but also got her two best actress awards (Nandi and Filmfare).

South Indian actress Colours Swathi has also debuted in the Tamil film Industry (Kollywood) with film Subramaniapuram in 2008. This became a hugely successful film of that year in Kollywood and Swathi was highly appreciated for her performance in that film. This is also dubbed into Telugu as Ananthapuram 1980. She currently did another Telugu film Kalavaramaye Madhilo where she looks even more beautiful with good costumes and sarees. She is acting in upcoming Tamil film Sindubad. In Telugu she is acting in upcoming movies “Sumanth & Swathi New Movie” and “Krishna Lanka”.
