Divya Spandana was born on 29 November 1981 in Bangalore, Karnataka. She has studied in St. Hilda School in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, and did college from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore. Many Kannada actresses did their college in famous Mount Carmel College in Bangalore but Divya is not like that.

Divya Spandana has changed her name to Ramya after consulting an astrologer as R was told to be lucky for her. Ramya has debuted in Kannada film industry (Sandalwood) with film Abhi in 2003 against Popular Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar. In the same year Divya has also debuted in Telugu film industry (Tollywood) with film Abhimanyu in the role of Sairabanu. Surprisingly this film name has commonality with her first Kannada film. Then after her debut film in Tamil (Kollywood) Kutthu in 2004, Divya got popularized as Kutthu Ramya. It looks like this actress had enough games with names.

Divya Spandana has changed her stage name back to Divya from Ramya since Vaaranam Aayiram and found that she has more luck in this name. She is a best friend of another popular south Indian actress Nayantara. She has also acted opposite many popular old and contemporary actors in Kannada film industry. She is also the most costly or highly paid actress in Kannada language.

Divya Spandana has kindly donated her eyes (after death) to a Bangalore based Eye Infirmary. She is a great fan of Surya with whom she worked and enjoyed during the shooting of film Vaaranam Ayiram.
