Nisha Kothari (also known earlier with her original name as Priyanka Kothari) is a South Indian actress and also a Bollywood film actress born on 30 November 1983, in Kolkata, West Bengal. She is like the many beautiful actresses that are imported from other than South Indian regions. In her first films wearing saree it is hard to notice that she is not from South Indian states but in later films and Hindi films like The Killer where she showed her beauty inside and outside, it was pretty clear that she was not a South Indian girl.

Nisha Kothari had her original name as Priyanka Kothari. She did modeling initially and acted in several commercial advertisements. She was noticed by popular Tamil film actor R. Madhavan who did auditions for her and selected her to act in her debut film Jay Jay in Tamil Film Industry (Kollywood) in 2003. She did very well in that film wearing traditional South Indian costumes like Saree looking very beautiful. She got recognition as a new Kollywood actress with this film. She had actually acted with her name as Amoga (changed from Priyanaka Kothari for luck in Kollywood), sounded beautiful and appropriate then.

Nisha Kothari changed to this name to try her new luck. She has debuted in Telugu film Industry (Tollywood) with film Madhyanam Hathya in 2004 which went unnoticed. She then debuted in Hindi Film Industry (Bollywood) with the big film Sarkar starring Amitabh Bachan and his son in lead roles was big hit in Bollywood. Though Nisha played a supporting actress role, she got to fame with this film and acted in more Hindi films like James in 2005, Darna Jaroori Hai and The Killer in 2006, Go in 2007 and Agyaat (horror film) in 2009. She is also acting in its sequel Agyaat 2 in 2010.

It looks like Ram Gopal Varma has taken Nisha seriously and used her acting in many of his films from Sarkar to Agyaat. Ram Gopal Varma is known for making unusual films unique for surprising or new stories and thrilling stories mostly horror stories in the Indian Cinema. In Kollywood Nisha Kothari acted in film Kartigai in 2009. In Tollywood she has acted in film Okka Mogadu in a supporting role. She debuted in Kannada film Industry (Sandalwood) as well with film Raaj-The Showman in 2009.

Initially starting with a cute little South Indian girl’s roles where she used to wear beautiful blue color saree to hot glamorous actress roles in Bollywood, Nisha Kothari had tried for some luck not just by changing name but also her exposing in films. She was the rarest actresses who show their glamour to a great extent in the Indian cinema. Yet her success still eludes her. I believe that she should continue in South Indian girls’ roles that would fetch her good success her instead of trying Bollywood just because her first film Sarkar was a hit.
