Anushka Shetty is a beautiful South Indian film actress of recent years. She particularly works only in Telugu film industry (Tollywood). Though she is not quite young still she is very cute and a popular South Indian actress. This is her small biography and photo gallery.

In my view Anushka Shetty comes in the same line as another south Indian actress, Bhumika Chawla. Her long straight nose makes her look extraordinarily cute. In addition to that she has beautiful eyes and looks.

She acts both like a glamour model as well as in traditional roles. She wears short skirt type of dresses in movies where her action is limited but only for a song as a glamour role. She wears traditional dresses like langa voni or sarees in movies where her role demands it. Many of the movies she chose are traditional roles and hence she could quickly gain popularity.

Gaining popularity in traditional roles requires good acting talent. And Anushka Shetty proved that through the hit telugu film of 2009, Arundhati. Her role is two fold in that movie. Still she did very well and gained critical acclaim for her performance. Although she has been doing well since beginning in tollywood with movies like Super, Stalin, Lakshyam etc., she did extremely well in the 2009 movie Arundhati.

Anushka hails from Bangalore before shifting to Tollywood or telugu film industry. She not only knows Tulu, her mother tongue, she also can speak telugu very well. Perhaps this is why she could easily chose to work in Tollywood. She did two tamil movies as well, Vettaikkaran, Rendu, but it is in telugu she found her success.

Anushka Shetty’s debut film in Telugu is Super along side popular actor Nagarjuna. She did a song in Stalin but her main character based films are Vikramarkudu (opposite Ravi Teja), Lakshyam (opposite Gopichand), Chintakayala Ravi (opposite Victory Venkatesh), Souryam (opposite Gopichand), Okka Magadu (opposite Balakrishna), Swagatham (opposite Jagapati Babu), Baladur (opposite super star Krishna), Billa (with Prabhas & Nayantara). In Arundhati Anushka is the main protagonist with villain Sonu sood.

She is working on a new film Khiladi with famous telugu actor Mahesh Babu which is to be released in the summer of next year (2010).

Anushka’s good performance film Arundhati is based on supernaturals genre where not every film does well. Her excellent performance is said to have popularized the film very much for all telugu movie fans.
