Blake Edwards
The loss of a great man.
With the passing of talented director Blake Edwards, we have lost one of the true gifted directors, both in the field and art as a whole, and with the specific field of comical films. I am a fan of several of his films; Pink Panther, A shot in the Dark, Pink Panther II, The Great Race, just to name a few.
What we can see is a loss of a man who took the comedy film and made into an art, not just a show of jokes and skits. His films were smart, edgey even, but most of all they were enjoyable. They played on all forms of comedy, from the physical to the dialogue, it was all full of quality and even when it was rough and new, it still had heart and effort that could not be denied, nor disrespected.
To Juile Andrews, and to the family and friends of Edward Blake I offer my most sincere and deepest condolences.
