Buju Banton on Trial in Florida for Drug Charges

Buju Banton states that a simple conversation with a U.S. government informant doesn’t make him a drug dealer. The only problem with this statement is the conversation started on a summer flight and ended in him being caught on type in December in a Sarasota warehouse.

Prosecutors say that Banton is more than simply a four time Grammy nominee but an established an established drug trafficker. Prosecutors continued to illustrate their point by saying that Banton was looking for “more, new and different money through a new conspiracy he was shopping for”.

The Reggae singer stands trial in Florida for multiple charges which include conspiracy, possession with the intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine, aiding and abetting, two counts of possessing a firearm during the course of distribution and if found guilty Banton faces a life sentence.

Banton’s attorney, David Markus, told a jury in federal court that the singer made “the worst mistake of his life” after being caught on camera in the warehouse using his finger to sample the cocaine in front of the informant in December. Ummm, you think!?!?
