Can We Believe in Stars?
Sometimes ago, a woman was arrested for shoplifting. She was not the first offender. She already had to her ‘credit’ two earlier convictions from the same offence. The defense counsel realizing the weight of evidence against her and coupled that her condemnable records, had no alternative but to advise her to plead guilty and promised to beg for a lenient conviction. The woman adamantly refused and rather surprisingly requested for adjournment of the case by a week; during this period, according to her ‘stars’ forecast, she asserted, and due to an influence of a favorable planet, she can never be found guilty.

The woman adamantly refused and rather surprisingly requested for adjournment of the case by a week; during this period, according to her ‘stars’ forecast, she asserted, and due to an influence of a favorable planet, she can never be found guilty. Stunned, bewildered and equally amused, the counsel hesitatingly gave in. Then, come the week and the case; she was discharged and acquitted on the flimsiest of excuses by the trial magistrate. The lawyer dumbfounded as he was, realized that there is more in the ‘stars’ than meets the eyes.
What is popularly known as the stars is the product of astrologers. Astrology, as we are made to understand is a combination of two sciences: Astrology and Correspondences. The former deals with sun, moon, planets and stars and strictly confines its research to knowledge of their sizes, distance and motion. Correspondence deals with the spiritual and physical influences of the same bodies upon each other, then upon the earth, and lastly upon the man.
Astrology originated from the mystical land of Chaldea from where the Egyptians charted the planets from lofty positions on their temples. In those days, horoscopes, or charts showing the positions of the planets at the moment a person is born, were cast only for kings, and used entirely for high affairs of state. Nowadays, there is no limit for its usage. Stars forecasts abound everywhere. Newspapers and other media attach importance to ‘stars’ columns, without doubt, they increase net sales. The thing about astrology is that many people would like to believe it even if they do not work. It would be wonderful to know good things in advance, to make the necessary adjustment either to avoid or to minimize the fatality of such impending doom.

This, my friend, is one good article.
Actually, it reads like the introduction to a very lengthy discussion about the subject; and you sound like you actually could discuss it impartially.
That’s no small feat around here (or anywhere)!
