Celebrities vs. Fans

Some celebrities don’t take attention well. We are by now used to their outbursts towards the paparazzi, but some don’t like their fans much either. Is it OK to be a celebrity and not like your fans?

Some of us are affected by the real life personality of celebrities. I think it is only natural that we want a reason to respect them other than their talent. It is impressive when you see an incredibly famous actor being nice to his fans, an actress being unpretentious, a rocker being modest and clean (not abusing drugs, that is)… I once ran into a celebrity at my favorite local bar and I went there to say hello. Mind you, I just wanted to say he was a good actor; I loved his work and well… just wish him more luck and success in general. I went to say hi and he replied: “I am not the person you are assuming”. Impressive, right? Maybe he wasn’t on a good day. Maybe he doesn’t like social interactions with the “public”. Still, I knew about his work before he became nationwide and became extra popular when he starred on a soap opera I couldn’t stand to watch, even for his sake. Another tip: Do not star in a soap opera if you don’t want to be recognized.” Also, do not go to one of the hottest spots.

Throwing stuff, pretending you are somebody else, swearing, walking away, brushing off…Nice tactics to apply on people you don’t like. I’d love to do those things to someone I despise. It would be fun. But you are not supposed to that to people who help you be where you are. Sure, you can -and should- get firm and rude if they cross the line. But you are in the wrong line of work if popularity and attention bother you. You also have a big problem if you think the million- dollar- paychecks are OK as long as people leave you alone. Sure, celebrities are only human. They might not always feel like smiling. Fine. So here’s a helpful tip: Shrug and go into your flat. Do not throw stuff!

I totally agree that if Jude Law wants his privacy he has to create it and not think that people are going to ignore him 100% of the time when he is giving them full view of his personal activities at home. He needs to choose much more wisely where he lives, or the setup of his home, in order to not be seen by Joe Q. Public from their living spaces. With celebrity comes the need to create your own private space…it is the price one has to pay for being famous and very well paid. That all being said I do think it is rude of the individuals taking the photos since he obviously is at home and doing his daily activities, but if he cannot take the heat at all he really does need to find a cooler place to live.
