Celebrity Parenting Advice vs.. Normal Parents
Tired of parenting advice from celebrities.
I often get tired of hearing parenting advice from celebrities. I mean, come on, they have the money to heir nannies or the ability to alter schedules so one parent is always home or they have the money to fly the entire family to an exotic destination so they all can be together. For us normal folk, that is impossible. I want to hear advice from parents that are in the trenches, trying to make it to soccer games on time, staying up late sewing that Halloween costume, baking 5 dozen cookies for the bake sale the next day. Do celebrities worry about things like this? Not necessarily, they will call the finest bakery and order them.
I am not trying to say celebrities have it easy, because as everyone knows, they pretty much all have issues and I’m sure they feel the guilt not always being there for their children.
We as parents need to be more confident in our everyday lives and what we do to make things work. At the end of the day it is hard to be a parent, either famous or not. We need to be supportive of one another and respect one another’s lifestyles. We should not pit ourselves against one another. It should not be stay at home mom vs. working mom. Nor should it be soccer mom vs. the mom whose child is not in any activities or the late mom vs. the prompt mom. We need to support one another no matter what.
It can be discouraging being a parent. What job has so much riding on it? What other job is thankless like parenting? What other job can bring you to tears like parenting?
Therefore, I think take celebrity parenting advice with a grain of salt and proud of what you are doing as a parent. We are in the trenches every day trying to do the best we can. Let the chores go and have fun with your family and be happy and proud with what you are doing.
