Changes: Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek and the Hispanic Society
Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek are two great actresses in Hollywood. Constantly the media talk and write about them. Not too long ago Salma Hayek had a baby and afterwards she got married. The latest comment about Penelope Cruz is that she is pregnant. She has not confirm this comment and she is not married.
I am a Hispanic woman like them. In less than a year I’ll be forty years old. Being so close to that age makes me think a lot about life and the way people do things. Getting married and having kids was not a priority for me. I was part of a group of teenagers that was suppose to go to college right after high school. Then I became part of a group that was suppose to graduate and to get a job immediately. Growing up I knew these things were expected of me. So, I did them. It came a time in my life that I fell in love and got married. Then it came the time when I had kids.
In the society I was part of, you were suppose to do things in a certain order. There were teenagers that decided to do things differently, but they were a minority. First you were suppose to get married, then you were suppose to have kids. Now so many celebrities and adults are doing things differently that, I do not know what to think. I would like to know when things changed in our Hispanic society. I do not want to believe that I have been living in a crystal ball. Nowadays, it seems there is no specific order to follow when you want to start a family. I know that everybody has the right to live their life and do things when they feel like it. However, I felt more comfortable knowing that there were certain rules in our Hispanic society, that helped us to live in an organize world.
I would like that when I have grand kids, they can be part of a culture and a society that has rules. They should know that doing things in a certain order will make their life easier. Maybe, I am just afraid of change. Hopefully one day, I will be able to understand what exactly is going on with our society and without feeling sad or disappointed.

I agree with you, but it’s a changing world and we must change, too. If not,we’ll be left behind
