Chris Brown Did What?

On February 8, 2009, Chris Brown turned himself in to police and booked on suspicion of making criminal threats to an unidentified woman. It was later revealed that the unidentified woman was Brown’s girlfriend, Rihanna. At only 19 years old, Brown’s career could already be over.

“If it’s true, his career is probably over,” says Billboard magazine’s editorial director, Bill Werde, although he cautions that “it’s important to withhold judgment until all of the facts are known.”

Allegedly, Chris Brown and Rihanna were coming back from a pre-Grammy party when Brown received a text message from an unidentified woman who said she wanted to get with Brown. This text started an argument between Rihanna and Brown. Rihanna said during the argument that Brown started hitting her.

According to the police report, Rihanna faked a call to someone saying, “He’s dropping me off. Make sure the cops are there.” This enraged Brown and he supposedly said, “You are really f****d up now. I’m going to kill you.”

Rihanna then took the keys out of the parked car and threw them out of the window. Brown then started a violent attack with his fists. At some point Rihanna lost consciousness.

When police arrived at the scene, Brown had fled.

Law enforcement found Rihanna with two large contusions on her head that looked “like an MMA fighter or something … [It] looked like she was growing devil’s horns.”

In the past week, Jay-Z supported Rihanna saying she if going through a tough time. He even said, “[Brown] messed with the wrong crew.”

And now, February 15, 2009, Rihanna’s father confirmed that Brown and Rihanna are over.

Fenty, 55, says, “The relationship is over and I am pleased. She doesn’t want to speak to Chris. She is being very brave about things and said that she will be back on stage performing soon.”
