Death of a Celebrity

My take on the overload.

My thoughts are that the media has been making more out of the death of Michael Jackson than the idol was meant to have. That is only because of the readership it seems, not because the man was of any excellence other than he happened to be very popular during the eighties and became someone associated with the music video craze. But to put it into perspective he did not invent the music video, he just happened to be there at the right time and new how to captivate his public through his song an dance.

But I grew up to appreciate Elvis and the Beatles. they meant a chnage to way music was performed and presented. When speaking to people twenty years my junior I can then appreciate how people could have seen Jackson as a model for dance and song. As I understand it he was also a model of freedom to many in the impoversihed world because he touched so many with his spirit.

I do not want to disparage that fact that the man was very creative and was worthy of being noticed for some albums like the Thriller one. But the fact is he was not as popular as he used to be and record sales declined in recent years because of his tarnished reputation. People seem to think that he could have made a come back with fifty performances to match his age. The truth is he couldn’t have withstood the pressure for less. He couldn’t breathe well enough for that

Today I came across the fact that the man was in declining and had been photographed in wheel-chairs and reported to be needed a high oxygen content because if a genetic deficiency effecting his lungs. He could no longer sing if one wants to rate him as a singing artist, so all these pressures including the fact that he had to take pain killers for the plastic surgery, were just too much for his heart. We probably don’t know half of the trauma he faced, not to mention the beatings he got from his father and the stigma he faced after he allegedly abused minors.I think that he should have known better after being acquitted the first time he was accused of using his ranch as a sleep over hostel for minors.

My thoughts are for the children who should be no where near their grandfather for the trauma he caused his son. The mother who disowned two of the children now wants them back, so her interest in raising them is pitiful. Hopefully someone more capable  in the Jackson family can come forward and look after them less the shrouds they wore in public. I wish the media would lay off the family and allow them to come to terms with their loss.
