Deployments

It is far from easy, but well worth the wait.

I have lived in Colorado for almost a year, stationed at Fort Carson. This is my second deployment and it has not been the easiest. From raising a newborn and an eight year old, both new to me. We have been through so much already. From going back home for vacation, which is definitely a long drive to having to bring my Soldier home for Emergency leave.
The one great thing we have here is the wonderful support of friends going through the same! When you are far from home and away from family, the next best thing is having people who understand completely what you are dealing with day to day. People you get to know and can enjoy the holidays with, if they stay. One thing I have found is that, no matter what you are going through, they can be there to help you get by.
You are never alone! There is always help, if not from friends, there is always help on post. Just because you ask for help, does not make you weak! It means you cannot do it alone. There is nothing wrong with that. Use your resources, they are there for a reason. Not only can it do good during Deployments, but also can help you after to readjust once your Soldier comes home.

Each day is something new, a different struggle. Finding positive ways to keep yourself busy and learning how to be independent makes a whole lot of difference. Remember, staying busy helps pass the time and your Soldier will be home before you know it!
