Derek Acorah Chats to Jacko’s Ghost

A pre-viewing opinion on an upcoming show where medium Derek Acorah tries to contact the spirit of Michael Jackson.

Celebrities and stars alike never cease to have pulling power whether alive or dead and in the case of some stars, their popularity swells on the occassion of their death…why?…..because they become an unattainable commodity unlike when they were alive.  In the case of Michael Jackson, the public really wanted to see the music icon perfom for possibly the last time….indeed it was spooky or perhaps prophetic for Jacko to say to the world that this would be his ‘last’  tour and then succumb to a fatal heart attack.  In the video scenes for the song Leave Me Alone, there is a weird camera shot of a newspaper front page with the headline “Michael Jackson on Ice for 50 years” ???? weird huh?  Considering he only got 50 years of life!!!  Indeed, it is a strange twist of fate that robs many stars of their life when they are often at their peak.  Musicians often have the unhappy knack of writing about events, even surreally, that turn out to come true….almost as if fated!  Take the queen song Bohemian Rhapsody by Freddie Mercury, it has these lines: “Momma, Just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he’s dead, momma… life has just begun, but now I’ve gone and thrown it all away”. What’s spooky about those lyrics is they could be construed as Mercury’s own life, as if he is both killer and victim….the gun of course, being the killer disease ‘aids’.  When the world loses an icon it loses, talent, creativity, genius and showmanship….indeed another light of the world going out…think of these peculiarities of the stars: Elvis, showmanship, charisma and style, Jimmi Hendrix, songwriting talent and guitar style that was unique and original, Michael Jackson, great voice, musical talent, creative genius, showman, performer and spiritual light, Freddie Mercury, great voice, showman and songwriting creative genius. There have been many others over the years who were firsts of their kind such as, Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali (still with us) Buddy Rich…these were all unique and at the top of their field, no one could match or better them! Now…back to my subject heading, the show with tv celebrity medium Derek Acorah intends to have a live seance on television and try and contact the spirit of Michael Jackson.  this wil be an interesting show because Jacko was a spiritual guy who cared about the big world issues such as poverty, race, injustice etc, but Michael was no plaster saint, but rather an ordinary human being, not a god….albeit a very special human being. It’s going to be interesting to see if  it happens, what kind of dialogue Acorah will have with jacko and what the outcome will be.  Some will be say, Derek Acorah is jumping on the bandwagon of those other mediums who previously have purported to have made contact with the spirits of dead ‘famous’ celebrities and if its a stunt it’s one that will be watched with bated breath around the world when the rights are sold to the programme. I for one,  find it interesting and will be watching although I suspect the ever hrowing army of skeptics who  have taken it upon themsoelves to be our arbiters of what is real and what is not, what is true and what is fake will be watching too, with their anayltical, rationalistic, empirical minds and poison pens at the ready, ready to strike out at what they see as supersition that impedes society’s real progress.  I for one…can’t wait for the show to be aired, either way, it should probve to be very entertaining!  I like Acorah and i do believ e he is a genuinely talented medium although made to jump through hoops on that ‘awful’ so called psychic show which shall remain nameless!  Anyway, I’ll be back back with a post show analysis…see you soon!
