Diamonds and Pearls
South African artists are still hot on good music, paying tribute to Neil Diamond, Celine Dion and friends in their latest performance “Diamonds and Pearls.” that ends April 18, 2010.
Despite the political and economic changes, thousands of Suth Africans (black and white) are flooding to hear old songs once sung by international artists Neil Diamond, Celine Dion and friends.
Nostalgy is very strong in the ’land of the diamonds’ where the population is experiencing high unemployment rate of as much as 25%, the life expectancy among the poor is 36 years and about 25% of the population is infected by tuberculosis (TB) and HIV.
The corrupt government is not doing much to eleviate the poverty despite the fact that South africa has been and still is one of the biggest diamond producers and exporters in the world.
The country is also on the verge of a civil war since the ultra nationalist Eugene Terre”Blanche was murdered on his farm near the Western Province town of Ventersdorp.
With increasing petrol prices, rip-off retail prices and an unpredictable 2010 World Cup, South Africa is in dire need of a charismatic singers to give the population a few hours of fun and entertainment as it could very well be their last chance, as they don’t know what tomorrow may bring.
