Her birth name is Diane Simone Michelle Halfin and she is popular from introducing the “wrap dress.” Diane began her fashion career in 1970 with just a $30,000.00 investment. Currently she lives in New York City creating a high-end fashion line that you can only buy at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. In 2005 Von Furstenberg was awarded the lifetime achievement award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She has also appeared as a judge on the hit Bravo TV show Project Runway and published a book in 1998 “Diane: A Signature Life.”

Her Spring 2009 Collection is one of the most feminine and sexiest collection that I have seen yet. Her designs easily can come from off the runway and onto the street. Her clothes hug the female body in all the right places. The dresses are long and flowing with ruffles, some satin and some lace. Most of her dresses are slinky and made with high quality silks. The inspiration for this colletion is very forties-esque. They are very delicate and hang on the body in such an attractive way. She has a great black silk dress that resembles a flapper but doesn’t look dated. The colors are dark with plums, burgundy’s and lots of black and white. Diane takes the simplicity of black and white and makes designs stand out on their own not by the colors but by the clothes themselves. The options are limitless. Having not being very familiar with Diane Von Furstenberg I was extremely impressed by her designs. Diane’s favorite designs come from knits, silks, coats and layers. A beautiful but basic dress will cost you around $425.00. An aline woven trench coat around $595.00. Diane also has a line of handbags and luggage. Her handbags are simple leather and suede bags with lots of class. Her luggage line is very reasonably priced. You can buy a great boarding bag for $69-$95.00. A three piece luggage set will set you back a mere $250.00. The great thing about Diane’s clothes is they are timeless. You can go on her web site and check out the sale section. Most people considered sale items to be clearance items or clothing that is now “out of date.” Not so in the case of the DVF collection. You would be very surprised to find very elegant trendy pieces that you will get for a great deal.
