Dr. Drew Kicks Kari Ann Out of Sex Rehab

On the latest episode of Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew, problem patient Kari Ann Peniche finally got the boot. Kari Ann has been a problem since the beginning of the series. She can’t seem to get out of bed in the morning to attend group, wears her jeans so low her rear is exposed, and is abusive to staff and other patients.

Dr. Drew and his staff have tried unsuccessfully to get Kari Ann to participate in group. Kari Ann has problems following the rules and seems to be quite paranoid, reading things into what people say that aren’t really there. This prompted Dr. Drew to have Kari Ann evaluated for a mental illness in a previous episode. Kari Ann also seems to have an unhealthy dependency on her cell phone. Fights between Kari Ann and the staff usually result from her wanting her cell phone or making calls when she is not supposed to.

On a previous episode, Kari Ann threw a vase at Selma. Selma reacted to the incident by manhandling Kari Ann, which led to Selma’s dismissal. This was not Kari Ann’s first violent outburst, and certainly won’t be the last. After Selma’s dismissal, Kari Ann signed a treatment contract promising that she would make an effort which included attending group, which Kari Ann failed to do because she refused to get out of bed. As a result, Dr. Drew arranged to have Kari Ann move to another treatment facility that could provide the level of care Kari Ann needed, but she refused. Kari Ann was told to pack her things, but she seemed unable or unwilling to do so and threw tantrums as the staff packed her things for her. At one point, Kari Ann demanded that her shoes be packed in a brown bag instead of the white garbage bags that the staff had available. When Kari Ann was told that the garbage bags were the only bags they had, Kari Ann decided that putting the plastic garbage bag over her head would prompt staff to give in. Kari Ann’s attempt to threaten suicide by suffocation did not work.

According to the VH1 Cast Bio, Kari Ann is a beauty queen from small-town Oregon, who went on to win the Miss United States Teen title. She was stripped of her title after appearing nude in the November 2004 issue of Playboy Magazine. She’s an on-air host for LND TV and has appeared numerous times in Howard stern’s “Tickle Chair”. From ages 4 to 8, she was molested by numerous men. She was also raped at ages 14 and 17. Kari Ann had abusive relationships and partied hard for at least two years, sleeping with many men, but never getting emotionally involved with any of them. She acknowledges this problem with intimacy, saying that she has over 800 numbers in her phone but not one person she can call.

Even though Kari Ann Peniche is no longer part of “Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew”, I’m sure we will still be hearing about her as she continues on her destructive path.
