Extraordinary Noses of the Rich and Famous
Someone rich and famous people had such extraordinary noses that their details were preserved in historical records.
The most famous noses in the world were remarkable for both shape and size. They range from the seven and a half inch exhibit of Thomas Wedders to the duels that Cyrano Bergerac fought for the honor of his nose.
Rudolf 1 of Hapsburg who was German King and Holy Roman Emperor from 1218-91. No artist ever dared to paint the nose on his portrait in its full proportions. So, all portraits of him show his nose as a less prominent feature than it actually was.

Michelangelo, Italian artist, 1475-1564, had a nose that was squashed right up against his face. As a boy the painter Torrigiano was mercilessly teased by Michelangelo. A story tells of a fight between the boys which ended with Michelangelo getting severely broken nose. After this his nose remained squashed up in his face.

Cyrano De Bergerac , the French dramatist, 1619-55, is said to have fought more than a thousand duels over insulting remarks that were made about his nose.

Thomas Wedders was an English circus freak in the 1700’s. He had the longest nose ever recorded in human history, at seven and a half inches long. He was exhibited throughout England during his life time.
Mehmet Ozyurek won the long nose contest in 2000, in Rise, Turkey. His winning entry measured three and a half inches, a good four inches shorter than the all time record holder.

Amazing facts about a nose. They certainly are unique. Strange how some noses can grow so large. When my sinuses flair up I sometime wish I had a larger nose so I could breath better.
