Extravagant Celebrity Weddings

Extravagant Celebrity Weddings.

There is one thing that is certain about celebrities; they know how to spend some money. Not only do they know how to spend money, they also know how to throw a party. Just imagine the money flying around when one of them gets married. Hundreds of thousands are flying around to pay for these extravagant celebrity weddings all the while, the rest of us are just trying to make our mortgage payments.

These weddings are started with the sparklers that are placed on their fingers kicking off the spend-a-thon. Catherine Zeta-Jones sports a 10 carat marquise cut rock that has an estimated worth of around $2 million. Tom Cruise gave Katie Holmes a ring that was close to that, it has an estimated worth of around $1 million and a 5 carat oval shaped diamond.

Once the big day arrives, one of the most over-the-top things that we are seeing at these extravagant celebrity weddings are wedding dresses that cost the same amount that it would to feed a small country for one year. One such bride was that of the controversial “Bachelor” couple, Molly Malaney. She wore a $45,000 strapless wedding dress by Monique Lhuillier. Sadly, the pice tag on Malaney’s dress was chump change compared to that of Donald Trump’s bride, Melania Knauss; her Christian Dior gown cost $125,000.

Venue is another big money pit. Madonna and actress Ashley Judd wed both at Scotland’s Skibo Castle which requires non-members to shell out roughly $2,200 a day. Elizabeth Hurley and her businessman beau Arun Nayar wed twice and both weddings took place in castles. The first was held in the U.K., at the Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire and the second Hindu ceremony took place at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, where suites can be as high as $10,000 a night.

Sadly, in Hollywood what is a rare occasion is a marriage that lasts rather than one that fails. We are sure that couples, such as Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt, are still a little bit sick over their marriage that began with a $1 million wedding. Another wedding waste was the $1.5 million that was spent on the nuptials of Madonna and Guy Ritchie. We are wondering if Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren are beginning to second guess their $1.5 million big day.

The average wedding in the United States costs $20,398, which would not even cover the garter for these extravagant celebrity weddings.
