Born the year after Woody Allen was the actor Alan Alda who starred in feature films such as Paper Lion and California Suite. Alan Alda has also appeared in two popular television series the now iconic M*A*S*H and the West Wing.
The actress Lauren Bacall was born in New York during 1924. Her most famous roles include parts in The Big Sleep, Key Largo, as well as The Mirror has Two Faces.
Lauren Bacall is of course the widow of another famous New Yorker and well known actor, Humphrey Bogart. In 1899 Humphrey Bogart was born in New York City itself. As a Hollywood film star Humphrey Bogart had parts in some of the most successful films of the 1940s. Bogart starred in The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and The Big Sleep. Humphrey Bogart’s last years were blighted by ill health and he died in 1957.
