I’ve been left handed from birth, but as time went on I became ambidextrous. I’m not sure if that is normal for south-paws to be like that or not. I did some research and found some famous south-paws. I hope you find this list of people interesting.

How Left-Handed People Were Treated In Earlier Times

In earlier times left-handed people were looked down upon.  Many of them were thought to be evil and were tortured and killed.

Some Facts On Being Left-Handed

We can see more easier underwater.  Societies pioneers were often left-handed.  Left-handed people have the advantage when it comes to fighting, because no one knows where the punches are coming from.  Many famous artists and musicians are left-handed.  There are over 30 million left-handed people in the United States.  Vegetarians are more likely to be left handed.  The left tusk of the can grow to the link of nine feet, spiraling in a counterclockwise direction.  During the Renaissance, painters would switch to the left-hand.

The Genetics Of Being Left-Handed

  1. One in ten people are left-handed. 
  2. 26% of children from two left-handed parents will be left-handed.
  3. 9% of children from two right-handed parents will be left-handed.
  4. 75% of children from two left-handed parents will be right-handed.
  5. 2% of left-handed children will have left-handed parents.
  6. Mothers who have children later in life are more likely to have a left-handed child.
  7. Women between the ages of 30 and 35 are more likely to have left-handed children.

International Left Handers Day is August 13!

On August 13,1992 International Left Handers Day was launched.  An annual event where left-handers everywhere can celebrate their uniqueness and increase public awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed.

This event is celebrated worldwide.  In the U.K. there are thier are 20 events to mark the day.  These events have contributed to the awareness of left-handed life, even product designers have jumped on the band wagon and started to modify thier products for us.  Left-handed people make up ten percent of the worlds poplulation.
