Fizz

To be a Fizz means one had the chance, a real chance to make it and just fizzled.

To be a Fizz means be trapped by time.

Sandra Dee

and Troy Donohue were 50s people.  Everything about them screamed 50s.  Then it was the 60s. They became Nelson Eddy and Jeannette Macdonald to a generation which had never heard of Nelson Eddy or Jeannette Macdonald.

Clevon Little should of been Eddie Murphy. Unfortunately, Hollywood wasn’t ready for Eddie Murphy. Despite a fantastic performance in Blazing Saddles, his co-star, Gene Wilder, preferred Richard Pryor.

Clevon Little went back to the stage, and drifted from the mind of the public and  died almost forgotten.

To be a Fizz means you don’t have it

Wayne Maunder got three chances. He starred in three different serials. All were flops.  How he was able to catch the starring roles is beyond my purview, that he could do nothing with them makes him the leading male fizz.

Female Fizzes are those actresses who gained the BIG BREAK and broke.

Sue Lyons played Lolita.

This movie was so hot, there was so much hype, that one figured she was set. But subsequent roles had her blending into wall paper when on the same screen witholder, better actresses.

Pia Zadora, Marie-French Pisier, and Phobe Cates could not hold the focus of the camera.  Although all three grabbed important roles, roles that were festooned with hype, roles that were awaited by the public, they didn’t do much.

Pia Zadora                       maybe the worst actress ever, and despite the millions of dollars used to promote her role in the “Lonely Lady“, she flopped.

Marie-French Pisier, in a similar role in “Other Side of Midnight” was just there.                             Had she been talented she might have done something with the break.

Phobe Cates, in Lace, did get attention but couldn’t keep it,
fortunately for her, she married Kevin Kline.

Being a Fizz means getting a chance because of….

Pia Zadora was married to a very rich man, so we know why and how.  Robin Givens      was married to Mike Tyson, which is what most people know about her.  That she gained roles did not mean she had the talent to do more than hold the space.

There are many more Fizzes in Show Biz, but I really can’t remember them.  Which is the hallmark of a really great Fizz.
