Four Celebrities with Troubled Childhoods

A few famous celebrities who overcame a troubled childhood.

Sinead O’Connor

Sinead O’Connor grew up in a turbulent household marred by divorce and abuse. Her parents divorced when she was eight. By the time she was a 15, O’Connor had been expelled from Catholic school and sent away to reform school for shoplifting.

If Sinead’s songs have angry and tormented themes, this is because of her unhappy childhood. When she was young, her mother would constantly beat her. This only stopped in her teens when her mother died in a car accident.

Madonna

She is known for doing the most outrageous things to grab attention. If you have read her Sex book, you’ll think that nothing can shock you anymore. So why does she do it? Critics note that her craving for attention is partly due to the early death of her mother. Her father soon married their housekeeper and had more children. Growing up in a large family, she felt ignored and uncared for. Now, the world is her stage.

Michael Jackson

Who doesn’t know Michael Jackson? He is considered the greatest performer of all-time. Michel Jackson never enjoyed his childhood days. He was so busy then recording songs, rehearsing, and performing because he started very young as a singer.

Even if he wanted to play his father won’t allow him and would beat him so hard if he refuse to practice. This is the very reason why he hated his father so much. He is still bitter about it. And because he never had a taste of the normal things a child should be doing and enjoying he built his own Never Never Land. He loves to hang out with young boys and was sued of child molestation but was acquitted.

Jane Fonda

She grew up believing that her socialite mother had died of heart attack. It was only much later when she found out that her mother actually committed suicide by cutting her throat with a razor. This discovery coupled with a cold father led to her 20-year struggle with bulimia, an eating disorder. She has since overcome her struggle.
