From Indie Chick to Blockbuster Babe, Meet Hollywood’s New Queen

For each generation, one actress rises above all others. Betty Davis. Katherine Hepburn. Meryl Streep. Classic women playing roles on the big screen that you can’t imagine any other women playing those parts. This generation the woman rising head and shoulders above all other starlets is none other than Amy Adams.

Actress Amy Adams has become a somewhat recognizable name in the mainstream culture only over the last couple years thanks to the widely-released films like Enchanted, Doubt, and Julie and Julia.

But it’s the lesser known movies where Amy Adams really shines. These films that don’t hit theaters across the country, yet are some of the best movies made over recent years. Adams has been involved in a variety of independent films that really showcase how talented this 35 year-old actress truly is.

Whether you’re already a fan of Amy Adams or just a fan of good films, here is the ultimate list of great cinema – all of which feature the talented Amy Adams:

  1. Junebug. She plays the title role. This was the movie that first awoke me to Adams’ huge talent.
  2. Charlie Wilson’s War. She played a supporting role in this great film based on a true story.
  3. Miss Pettigrew Lives for A Day: Delightful & fun period piece – Adams shines!
  4. Sunshine Cleaning: Bit of a heavy, dramaticfilm, but a true look at an unusual part of life.

Amy Adams is involved in several upcoming projects, including the movies Leap Year and The Fighter, both expected to be released in 2010. Whether she’s in mainstream blockbuster hits or the lesser known films you’re fortunate to accidentally run across, keep an eye out for Amy Adams. I suspect this is just the beginning of a very bright future for her.
