Fun Mustache Poll: Do You Prefer These Actors with or Without?

Fun comparison post on actors – their mustached versions as opposed to clean-shaven images. Which ones do you prefer? Featuring: Kevin Kline, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Tom Berenger, Kevin Costner and Daniel Day Lewis.

So how do you feel about mustaches? For some men, it is cultural and for some it is about masculinity. And for some men, it is something best left in the 70s. Here are some mustached and some clean-shaven version of some male movie stars. Which version do you prefer?

Mel Gibson

Cover of Bird on a Wire

Well, Mel Gibson only supported a moustache in a movie for about 10 seconds, while Goldie Hawn was remembering their old times together. Now, Mel supported some crazy beards and haircuts recently so well…let’s remember him how he used to be moustache and beard and crazy free.

Well, the photo is from the movie Bird on a Wire and the mustached face belongs to Gibson. Yes, I’d say a young Mel Gibson with no facial hair is best.

Tom Berenger

I’m going to take you to past with Tom as well because well, he looked better when he was younger (I don’t think this is the case with everyone, Tom Cruise looks even better than he did years ago, for instance).  I think he looked alright with mustache in the 1983 film The Big Chill (also starring a mustache-free Kevin Kline) but he looks better without to me.

Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner gets a moustache when the western movies such as Wyatt Earp require him to. But I prefer a clean-shaven Kevin, younger or older.

Kevin Kline

Kevin Kline in Dave.

Kevin Kline in French Kiss

I really Kevin Kline in pretty much anything he has done and I think he looks fine with or without. I have to say I love his French character Luc in French Kiss.

Antonio Banderas

Beautiful men should not be allowed to wear mustaches as we run the risk of seeing them…well.. not so good-looking.

Daniel Day Lewis

Remember the butcher from Gangs of New York. He also supports one in There will be Blood. I’d say definitely without!

Zoey, I see that most Turkish men wears a mustache. There’s many Turkish men here in my country right now. They are very friendly. Yes, mustaches makes a men looks fiercer than they seem. Perhaps that’s why they wear them . It works best in bad guy roles too. Daniel Day Lewis and Antonio Banderas looks like really bad ass villains to me. This “special effect” really works no doubt .:)

:) )) well, guys my age or close to my age don’t wear it, thank goodness:D:D:D

You know Kevin Kline loves wearing a moustache especially when he is doing a comedy? Oh well- I have no objections to him but even Kevin Costner looks ugly with a mustache. What chance does a Turkish guy have? :)

I prefer Mel Gibson without it; Tom Berenger looks cute with or without it; Daniel Day Lewis without it; Kevin Costner without it; Kevin Kline and Antonio Banderas without it !!!

Oh my God my mother watches French Kiss alllll the time haha. I prefer him with a mustache, Mel Gibson without, and as for the rest of them I don’t think they look good either way.

Daniel Day Lewis has such a long narrow face I think a big mustache balances out that and helps anchor a huge nose.
I have to say Tom Berenger looks good both ways… but I definetely prefer his looks when he was a bit older, beefier, and more manly. I think he had a mustache later in Johnson County Wars.
