Gestures of Lies: Deception in The Language of Gestures and Facial Expressions

"Body language does not lie. Even if the body is already in the grave"
Dr. Lightman, "The Theory of lies"

In nature, no people are alike. All of us – are different. We are different see, hear and think. And, we are also different. And because there is no standard set of gestures lies, pointing to the fact that we speak the truth. But if he – we would have found his trick;)

Cheating is noticeable when it evokes emotions (anxiety, fear or shame). These emotions and body language conveys. But the evidence lies in the aggregate to look for facial expressions, gestures and speech.

The truth is somewhere to the left

Lying requires self-control and stress. Stress can be explicit or implicit, but it is easy to see, looking at the left side of the body. It is controlled by less than the right. This is because the left and right sides of the body are controlled by different hemispheres of our brain.

The left hemisphere is responsible for speech and mental activity, right – for the emotions and imagination. Since the cross connection control, the work of the left hemisphere is reflected on the right side of the body, and right – on the left.

What we want to show others reflected on the right half of the body, but what we really feel – on the left.

For example, if a person is right handed and a lot of gesturing with his left hand, it could mean that he is lying, especially if this involved the right hand lower. Any inconsistency parts of the body indicates insincerity.

“The brain is so busy inventing lies, that the body loses its synchronization,” Dr. Light man, “The Theory of lies”

Person, as the body sends two messages at once – what we want to show and what we would like to hide. Disharmony in facial expression indicates a contradiction. Symmetry is always said about the purity of intentions.

For example, if a person smiles, and the left corner of his mouth lifted less than the right, then obviously we heard he was not happy – he feigns joy. Another interesting fact is that positive emotions are reflected on the face evenly, while a more noticeable negative on the left side.

Cheating strains

Change the color of the face (pallor, redness, spots), and twitching his small muscles (eyelid, eyebrow) indicate the stress experienced by the person and help to calculate the fraud.

Tension, which manifests itself in frequent blinking, squinting or rubbing his age – is the unconscious desire to turn a blind eye to what is happening. Gestures rubbing our brain tries to block a lie, doubt or discomfort.
