Giraldo was in New Jersey for a four show stint at the Stress Factory in New Brunswick
when he was discovered unresponsive by a friend during “wild party” in his hotel room
Saturday according to Fox News.
He is currently listed in critical but stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson University
Hospital in New Brunswick. He was taken by paramedics who were able to revive him
on the scene.
Ironically, the 44 year old father of three was also scheduled to appear at a rally in New
York to celebrate National Drug and Alcohol Month, an event to support and encourage
recovering addicts to stay clean. Giraldo has been a recovering alcoholic since 2005.
The Harvard graduate and former attorney is famous for his explosive political and social
humor and has been a burgeoning comic star. From appearances on late night talk shows
and Comedy Central specials, Giraldo has been making a name for himself famous brand
of humor.
A popular side kick on Howard Stern, the highly rated satellite radio show will be
scrambling to deal with another empty chair in the studio. Last year, comic and long time
associate of the program, Artie Lange, took an indefinite leave of absence following a
failed suicide attempt last winter.
Gerardo is also famous for being one of the best roasters on Comedy Central’s
celebrity roasts, grilling guests such as William Shatner and Pamela Anderson.
According to TMZ, this was an accident and not a suicide attempt.
