Haterade

Nobody likes being called a hater but everybody likes to hate on people. On our most shallow levels, we like it because it makes us feel righteous and superior. Below is a list of prominent people that many of us love to hate, with reasons why we should lay-off the Haterade. Don’t be a hater.

Nobody likes being called a hater but everybody secretly hates people. On our most shallow levels, we like doing it because it makes us feel righteous and superior. It’s easy to pretend that the petty feelings we have for that “pigeon-toed heifer next door” or “that jerk in the next cubicle” are just personality quirks, that our dislike for them is the same as our dislike for raisins or anchovies. It’s even easier to create excuses that sound better than the real reason: I’m not jealous of her Bentley. I just don’t approve of those short skirts of hers.

Those petty feelings are really just good old-fashioned hater-ation.

Beyonce Knowles

Many people are guilty of this one. People hate Beyonce with a passion and have ever since her early Destiny’s Child days when the group had five singers. Beyonce seems to remind people of the popular girl in school- and they’re hoping she trips on the hem of her prom gown.

Paris Hilton

People hate Paris because of jealousy. She hasn’t really done anything worth our note but she is everywhere. To ordinary people who have real talents and still have to do their own grocery shopping, this is unforgivable.

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin is a feminist. She has given all women a running start.

For her Republican haters, this is especially troubling. This is no June Cleaver, an apron-wearer with plenty of time to bake cookies for the church social. This is the working mom of an unwed mom.

A really interesting, thought provoking article. I think I am guilty of this at times.

intriguing! but as I found out early in life, you cannot please everybody so I`m not surprised that haters exist.

I can’t imagine anyone hating the likes of Beyonce, Oprah, or President Obama. I agree, it’s all about jealousy. Maybe if the haters would spend all that energy improving themselves rather than tearing others down, the world would be a better place. You’ve compiled an impressive list here although I probably have spent a little too much negative energy on Paris Hilton. lol. Maybe I’m just jealous because I have to work so hard for everything.

I should think it is impossible to be in the spotlight without being hated.

I can’t think of anybody I hate. I didn’t like Bush because he acted so stupid and made so many bad decisions but I didn’t hate him. I’m sure I have people who dislike me but I don’t think anybody hates me. I try to do what I think is right and I don’t care if it pleases anybody else or not.

We all have our dislikes and disagrees, but taking an active part against someone is kind of uncivilized (and a negative waste of energy), in my opinion.

Stephanie,I know you’re on one of my friends list somewhere,I think,I might have read a couple here and there, but I really liked this.To be quite honest, other than Paris(Don’t care one way or the other) I’m a big fan of all these world changers.I’m a 44yr.old white guy,and I actually LOVE Oprah and Obama. The Palin thing…everything you said, and she’s just so cute, but like you said, mother of five, holds political office, that’s a bad ass woman. She looks damn good doing it too.Debbie sent me this, glad she did.
