In The Defense of Kanye West

I think it’s time you think of the whole thing from Kanye’s perspective.

Kanye’s outburst at the 2009 VMA’s has already cost him fans and respect almost immediately. Everybody from 50 Cent to President Obama himself have criticized Kanye for his actions during Taylor Swifts acceptance speech. For those who haven’t heard or seen the video Hip Hop Rapper/Producer Kanye West crashed the stage during country singer Taylor Swifts acceptance speech for best female video of the year and claimed that Beyonce deserved the award because her video was better.

Now I’m not saying what Kanye did was right but who cares? First of all whats the criteria for best video? It couldn’t be for most creative video because Taylor Swifts video definitely was new creative or innovative if you ask me it’s pretty much like every video I’ve ever seen. You can’t argue the fact that Taylor only won the award because she’s every teen girls idol right now which makes up the majority of MTV’s viewers so basically it’s a popularity contest. Second of all from the day we were introduced to Kanye we knew he was different and spoke his mind. We also know that he had to work damn hard for his shot as a rapper. We know nobody wanted him to rap and just wanted him to be a producer we know how many time’s he’s been shot down. Ever since he did get that chance he’s been an unstoppable force and is now one of hip hop’s biggest icons. We know there are thousands of people who were watching the awards and said to themselves “Taylor Swift didn’t have the best video of the year” the only difference is Kanye West said it to everyone. If you ask me we need more people that speak there mind. The fact that everybody wanted to hang Kanye for speaking his mind on television is ridiculous. He’s just a regular person like you or me who turned into a superstar over night and all he was doing was defending his mentors wife.

Kanye West has had his fair share of embarrassment over the course of his career constantly being criticized for not talking about guns and drugs like his fellow artist even causing various musicians and entertainers to poke fun at his sexuality because he didn’t talk about the same subjects as other artist. Nobody ever came to his defense. I didn’t see people rioting South Park made a whole episode portraying Kanye as being homosexual. So why is it such a big deal that he interrupt her speech? How is what Kanye did any worse than other celebrity’s appearing drunk on television and making a fool of them self’s? Don’t worry folks Taylor Swift isn’t loosing any sleep over the Kanye incident and I think it’s time that everybody else gets over it to.

Well Simon I don’t agree with you at all. He could have said the same thing in an interview without having to constantly be in the spotlight. He made his bed so he can lie in it.

PS – Please don’t kill my character for this! :)

Honestly, don’t know enough about rap to really comment about his actions…..don’t watch tv, but coming from you simon I’ll have to be in your corner on this one. I trust your judgement!

Gringo….I guess a sponge bath is better than none!

The mere fact that Kanye was saying what others may have been only thinking doesn’t make him deserving of respect. A lot of people think a great many things without resorting to humiliating those at whom their thoughts are directed. That’s what’s called being civilized and mature. Your logic suggests that the world would be a better place – more “real” – if every person said whatever was on their mind whenever it came to mind. And really, by saying so you are in fact also saying that you agree with what he did, despite your assertion otherwise.

I also don’t agree with you, Kanye West didn’t have to go up and ruin Taylor Swift’s moment up on that stage. http://musicouch.com/musicouching/kanye-heartless-west/ that’s my perspective.
