Inequality and Shame of Afghanistan

Laws
Laws in Afghanistan are a lot more beneficial to men than women. How the law is setup allows males to vote for government but doesn’t allow females. This being the case males continually vote for the same Government while females suffer. Laws made for women are usually not enforced by the Government properly. They have just been made to hide the fact and issue of inequality. Some laws in place include Rape not being provable unless there are 3 witnesses, rape being considered adultery in many cases, women cannot run away from men and no forced sex or marriage. When any cases such as these come up there is never proper investigations and witnesses are too afraid to speak up. If these are seen happening police often turn a blind eye. A combination of bad government and men given too much power has resulted in these bad laws.
History and Consequences
A result of all this corruption, inequality, bad laws, shocking Government and common assaults and violence can only lead to bad consequences, which it does. Women’s suicides are all too common while only 15% live. But if that’s not bad enough, these women are brought to painfully burn themselves to death by pouring petrol over themselves and lighting it on fire. Some of the women in Afghanistan who choose not to suicide are left beaten up and used for sex with a low self esteem. These consequences are what the Australian army and United States army have attempted to stop or minimize.
Afghanistan, a once respected country, is now full of violence, hatred, corruption, pain and all things in life which we never wish to experience. This is the result of a heartless Government who should never have become in control and the thoughtless votes of men who do not see the pain in which is being inflicted upon women. While the article showed a lot of good information on the bad side of Afghanistan, I still feel the true Afghanistan and the real pain people are going through is unrealised. Only can it be revealed within a true experience.
