Leos are born performers – everyone knows that. Whether they like it or not, they will spend much of their lives showing off. It’s in their bones. “I just knew that was what I wanted to do,” says pop diva J-Lo (aka Jennifer Lopez). “I was going to perform as a singer; I was going to perform as a dancer, and I was, you know, going to do movies and be an actress. I was going to do it or die trying. That’s what my life was.”

Although they often come across as real party people, Leos are home-lovers at heart. “I’m not all about going out all the time…” she explains. “I’m not the one who has to go out to dinner all the time or go to clubs. That’s just not me. I just like to be around my loved ones, visit and be close to them and that’s enough for me.”

But what about that diva thing? J-Lo’s not the only Leo who gets bad press for that. With natural Leonine confidence, she denies it. “It’s something I don’t worry about so much because it will be dispelled when people meet me and work with me… It’s a shame that they chose to put the diva on the person who works really really harder than anybody else.”

She’s sounding serious now. But probably not for long. Leos can be scarily stern, but counter-balance this with a fab sense of humour. “There is a side of me that’s silly. I like to make jokes and to make people laugh, absolutely.”

And is she a control freak, like so many Leos are? “I can control the music I make; I can control how I sing; how I dance; how I act in a movie, or how much time I put into this or that or the other. Like what I want to develop in the future. But that’s the only stuff I have control over.”

On the day little Jennifer came into this world, love planet Venus was in Virgo. This is what makes her the perfectionist she is. “As an artist, I don’t think I’ll ever feel totally satisfied. Maybe one day I will. But right now that’s not the feeling I have. I feel I want to grow as an actress and be better. I want to progress as a singer and songwriter, and produce movies and everything. So there’ll be no time when I feel I’ve done it all. And I deal with all that by being like a perfectionist.”

One Leo trait that is rarely advertsised is their traditionalist streak. “I’m very old fashioned and traditional, J-Lo says. “You know, maybe I was just born in the wrong time, but I love all things romantic.” And passionate too. “I feel a lot, and I’m never afraid to get close to someone. I’m not afraid of love.”

Which is good, because that seems to be the one thing she’s lacking right now…
