Russell Brand is a UK comedian and celebrity. Lately he has become more well known around the globe. This is mainly down to two things. One his marriage,to American pop star Katie Perry, and two his starring role in the re-make of the 1981 movie Arthur.
Arthur II may have not been acclaimed by the critics but it certainly made Brand a household name, in some parts of the world.
Brand has never been known as a quiet personality. He has had controversies in the past. He and fellow presenter Jonathon Ross became public enemies in the UK after being rude and abusive to aging actor Andrew Sachs, during their radio show.
It took a long time for the pair to be forgiven and Brand seemed thoroughly sorry for the hurt he caused. So much so he resigned his well paid job at the BBC.
It is widely known also that Brand has had a drugs problem in the past. He never pretended to be an angel. In fact his naughty image has been part of the attraction for some. His comedy was always on the edge and close to falling over many times.
As wife Katie continues with the Asian leg of her American Dream tour ,she no longer has her husband as her travelling companion. On Sunday, 22nd May 2011, husband Russell Brand was deported from Japan. Katie tweeted on twitter, “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favourite place.”
Japanese officials refused to comment on the reason for Brand’s deportation. It is safe to assume though that his reputation preceded his arrival. Russell as always saw the funny side of things and tweeted, “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick.”
