He was born Jonathan Gregory Brandis on the 13th of April 1976. He started his career as a child model, appearing in several television commercials. At a tender age of six he got his first recurring role on the television series One Life To Live. About three years later he made appearances on several TV shows amongst which include: L.A. Law, Murder, She Wrote, Full House, The Wonder Years and Kate and Allie.

A couple of years later, Jonathan Brandis received his first major role in the hit movie, The Never Ending Story II: The Next Chapter. He played the role of a young boy named Bastian Bux. He also played major roles in several other films, amongst which include Sidekicks and SeaQuest DSV. These roles he played soon catapulted him into a teen idol.

Besides acting, Jonathan Brandis was also a director and screenwriter, making several independent films.

On November 12 2003, tragedy struck. Jonathan Brandis died at a medical center in Los Angeles at the young age of just 27.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s statement, a call was made to the police by a friend of Brandis’ reporting that he had attempted suicide at his apartment. Paramedics rushed to the actor’s apartment  and transported him to Cedars Sinai Medical Center. It was at this hospital that Jonathan Brandis died from his injuries sustained when he tried hanging himself. Brandis did not leave a suicide note. His friends said that he was quite depressed about slowly declining career.
