Kanye West and Taylor Swift at The VMAs

Ok, I fully believe in freedom of speech.  Heck I along with a lot of other people have served this country thorugh it’s armed forces to protect that right but what Kanye did was…well…embarrassing to say the least.  I am not trying to say that he was wrong in his opinion or for voicing his opinion, however, there is a place and time to do so and interrupting Taylor Swift in the middle of her acceptance speech just to say that basically she shouldn’t have won was so inappropriate it’s incredible. 

No, I have not seen neither Beyonces’ nor Taylor Swifts’ videos to voice my opinion about them because honestly, those are things that just don’t matter to me.  What matters to me is when one of our fellow Americans climbs on his or her own soapbox in the public eye and embarrasses not just themselves but our Country.  The VMA’s are seen across the globe and while there are, I’m sure, plenty of people who may agree with Kanye’s opinion, that was just not the time to voice it.  We all know that there is plenty of time after the awards when the journalists and television reporters want to discuss the results with the celebrities who attended.  It should have been at that time that Kanye should have said his piece. 

As I understand it now, he has since apologized for his conduct publically and to Taylor Swift which does go to show that he isn’t a bad person.  He just has bad timing I guess you could say.  I guess the bottom line is everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is a time and a place for everything so be smart about what you say and when and where you say it.
