Kanye West Did The Right Thing
In defense of Kanye’s interruption of the MTV VMA’s.

It seems that the general public opinion of Kanye West is somewhere between “Idiot” and “Asshole”. But you’ll notice that it’s not “who?” Although it’s not a foolproof methodology, the notion that there is no such thing as bad press does have some validity. Like him or (more likely) hate him, Kanye has your attention even if it’s only to bash him. The shock and disgust tactic doesn’t always work well though. You can ask Janet Jackson’s nipple for its opinion on that. My guess is Kanye’s next album will sell well, especially if he can parlay his faux pas into some kind of mildy self-deprocating lyric in the first single.

But more importantly, I always support idiots being loud, in-your-face idiots. It’s the quiet, sneaky idiots you have to watch out for. No one at the point should ever be surprised when Kanye acts like an idiot from this point on, wondering how they didn’t know about that side of him (assuming there is another side at all). No, he broadcast his ballsy jackassery on national television so that we would all know him as an idiot.
So, it’s not that what Kanye did was the right thing to be done, but I think it was the right thing for him to do, so that we could all be educated about his character, and peripherally so that Taylor Swift could be praised for her poise. But you don’t see too much about her story in the incident, do you?
