Leona Lewis: The Unmissable Facts
by Everybody’s heard about the fabulous X Factor Star, Leona Lewis. but I bet you didn’t know the following facts.
Leona Lewis. The name speaks for itself. There’s not many people these days who’ll say they’ve never heard of Leona, unless of course they’ve been living as a hermit on top of an Outer Mongolian mountain for the past two years…O.K. so you know who she is, you know she won the U.K X Factor in 2006 and you know she used to be a Pizza Hut waitress but here are some more little known facts that might just tweak your interest…
- On 27th March this year (2008) Leona became the first British female solo artist to get an American number one for 20 years with her single “Bleeding Love”. The last woman to do so was Kim Wilde in 1987.
- Leona has definitely come a long way since serving pizza. In March this year, she rejected an offer of £250,000 to perform four songs at a corporate event in Dubai.
- On the grounds that Leona is a vegetarian, The star has said she would like to design a shoe range which did not use any leather products. Excellent! A star who stands by her principles but a cynical onlooker might say that this canny lass has her head screwed on and could be looking to make a passive income in something other than singing. Pssst – ever heard of your own personal perfume? Now that is a guaranteed money-spinner, just talk to Kylie, Britany, Jay-Lo, Paris Hilton, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Simpson, Kate Moss… need I go on?
- In her international video for the single “Bleeding Love”, Leona wore a £100,000 Dolce and Gabbana dress made from shimmering crystals. Only thing is, don’t tell Victoria Beckham. After Leona’s video was made, Posh Spice wore the same dress in the Spice Girls video for “Headlines (Friendship never ends)”
- Leona’s first hit “A Moment Like This” in 2006 broke the world record for downloads by selling 50,000 in the first half hour.
