Letterman, Lady Gaga, Brianna Frost Hogan and Celebrity

Andy Warhol was right.

We live in a society addicted to the cult of celebrity.  Even the Old Soldier wants to be famous.  Not famous in any international, national, television or even radio way.  Just a little Internet fame like my niece Brianna Frost Hogan who has 10, 498 followers on Twitter and her Facebook profile has been liked by 18,219 people.

She’s a webcam stripper who also performs sex acts.  That’s her in the above photo.

She has her own web site and her videos make thousands of dollars a year.  From what I understand she makes a very good living.

I’m not young or female or beautiful and I would not want to be famous in the way that she is famous but she is famous in her own way in cyber space.  Her Twitter account lists MTV, G4, Howard Stein, Playboy.com and Maxium online to her credits and she was on a reality show about young American women in an English school that was trying to turn them into proper young ladies in which she nearly won $100,000.

I am not the right person to judge her.

Last night Lady Gaga was on The David Letterman Late Night Show.  I think that’s the official title.  Whatever.

I was sitting at my workstation, promoting my work on Triond when I picked up the remote and started to flip through the channels.  Letterman was interviewing Lady Gaga, one of the most famous people in the world.

I would say Lady Gaga is around 25.  Forbes Magazine listed her as one of the richest celebrities in the world.  Lady Gaga works hard at being outrageous.  And on Letterman she wore this wild outfit with wild makeup and she was appropriately spaced out like I and her fans who are called “little monsters” expected her to be.

Lady Gaga is definitely a creature of the media: videos, CDs, Twitter, the Internet and television.  She has over 10,000,000 followers on Twitter.  She was on Letterman to promote the release of her new CD.  Why even the Old Soldier has a blog, Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, where I use nude female celebrities and flash fiction erotica in an effort to reach for my 15 minutes of fame.

After all, if I could be famous for 15 minutes I might make a lot of money.  Isn’t money really what celebrity is all about?

Money and attention (sometimes it seems that attention comes first), I guess. Anyway, I am working towards my minutes of fame too. Though, just in the way you do. Haha, I’d hate to be some TV clown with paparazi (dunno how it’s written) waiting under the latrine just to take a picture of my *sshole :)

Celebrity at what cost? I rather enjoy my privacy and that’s often the price one pays.

You are so lucky to have a niece, I prayed for a neice so I could buy her all those cute baby dresses and every Barbie thing their is. I got a nephew instead. But that is okay because I adore him. Your neice is beautiful.

I guess it fame comes down to a bit of luck, a lot of selling yourself as a product, and what you are willing to do or can do to become famous. I guess I will just live my ho hum life.

I’m a chubby middle age man no one wants to see me strip if they did and paid well would I do it? YES! good article. LB
