Queen of daytime TV (Oprah Winfrey) to leave her throne.

The undisputed Queen of Daytime TV has announced that she will be leaving her popular weekday TV program, her set and studio audience behind after 25 years.

Oprah Winfrey made the recent announcement after much speculation and amid much fanfare regarding the pros and cons of her decision.

Winfrey, who has had personal struggles and shared them opening with her studio audience and massive TV following,  has endeared herself to some many around the world who could identify with many of her personal issues.

What can forget the problems that she encountered with her on-going battle with the weigh scale…something most of us could and can identify with.

What about the great personal expense and sacrifice she endured when she went public with cattle producers in Texas over the issue of dietary preference…as one of the growing numbers of vegetarians and vegans (I am vegan) around the world, I could identify with her taking a public stand for what she believed was right. Good on her.

One thing that most of us could not identify with was her overwhelming generosity…how she stepped up to the plate and delivered homerun after homerun is support of the downtrodden and disadvantaged. She has never forgotten from whence she came, but few of us would have the financial resources to do the countless acts of generosity and kindness that she has performed in transforming lives over the past 25 years or so.

There is a saying that “Quality can be imitated, but never duplicated” and that is how it is with Oprah…there will never be one quite like her once she steps away from mainstream TV…but it sounds like she will be launching a new public relations campaign…we just wonder how she will top her reign of supremacy of the past 25 years…stay tuned.

Thank you Oprah…

I used to watch her shows, when I was a little younger and had the time. She was one of the pioneers, when it comes to women talk-show hosts. Most of her shows really made me think. Thanks for this Jimbo.

Whenever I have the time and Oprah is on television, I watch it. Her programs are thought-provoking. I wrote sex addiction parts 2 and 3 after watching her show. Anyhow, I am sure she is a generous person, but aren’t celebrities including those in sports required to donate and contribute to different charities? I heard that. And yes, I remember her issues with the weight. She has kept it off though. In terms of weight, many people can relate to her, however, what works for one person may not work for another since we all have different types of metabolisms. But some women still don’t understand that while the Atikins Diet might work for mary it might not work for sara. Anyhow, great article.
