Maradona Loses Jewels Worth $6000 in Italy
He may have been the greatest Socce star of all times, but he is also an infamous tax evader.
Former Soccer star and one of the greatest footballers of all time, now the Head Coach of the Argentina National Football team, Diego Maradona had his jewelries worth $6000 dollars confiscated by the Italian tax officials recently while he had visited the country. He is being accused of tax evasion crimes he commited in the late 1980s and the early 1990s when he was a player at Napoli FC.
Reports from Italy suggest that Maradona had gone to the country to met medical consultants over his over weight condition. He was tracked in his Hotel room and had his jewels, including two Rolex watches confisticated. This is not the first time Maradona is facing such perosnal losses in Italy. A few years ago he was invited to make a talk show in Italy and the money he should have received for his talk shows was quickly taken away by the tax authorities before he had chance to receive his earnngs.
The Italian Tax authorities have accused Maradona of having evaded Tax worth $45,000,000 as a player in Italy. It amazes me that they have not bothered to take legal actions against Maradona, but each time they have an opportunity, they simply grab his money or property they can lay hands on.
Somebody needs to adise Maradona to stay away from Italy or just take a step to pay off his dues to avoid these continued personal embarrassments.
