Marvin Isley Dead at 56
This is a tribute to the late great Marvin Isley. Life troubles last for a little while. Rest in peace.
Marvin Isley was born on August 18, 1953 to the parents of O’Kelly Isley Sr. and Sally Bell Isley.
Marvin Isley was the youngest brother of the famous R&B group The Isley Brothers. This group has topped the charts during six separate decades. Who can forget such classics as “Shout,” “Who’s That Lady” and “Fight the Power” which Marvin co-wrote.
Marvin started with the group in 1973-1984 and from 1991-1997. He played the bass and sang background vocals. He left the group for good in 1997 due to his struggle with diabetes. Marvin’s health problems did not stop there. His bout with diabetes led to a stroke, high blood pressure, the amputation of both legs, issues with the use of his left hand and eventually his passing.
Marvin transitioned on June 6, 2010 in Chicago. He will be buried Saturday June 12th in New Jersey. He will be laid next to his mother and one of his brothers. Sleep on Marvin you too will be missed.
Hear the magnificent Marvin Isley as he makes his bass guitar sing.
