Michael Jackson and Al Sharpton

It has been a few months since the King of Pop’s death and many fans are still mourning. I came across a clip from his memorial saw Rev. Al Sharpton give a very touching (even for him) speech about Michael Jackson. Al Sharpton was defending Michael Jackson to his kids against the idea that he was strange saying, “There was nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it."

Al Sharpton give a very touching (even for him) speech about Michael Jackson. Al Sharpton was defending Michael Jackson to his kids against the idea that he was strange saying, “There was nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with, but he dealt with it.”

This video was very reassuring about Michael Jackson’s “controversial” and “eccentric” behavior that often preceded him. He seemed very innocent in interviews always talking about the good in the world and helping people and how much he appreciated the fans that flocked to him everywhere he went. He was truly a great celebrity never shooing away his fans for a picture or autograph, which is more than many of the celebrities in Hollywood right now. He truly seemed like an innocent child whenever he was interviewed. I saw an 1988 interview with him where he said that he always thanked God for a sunrise , a baby’s smile, and the wings of a butterfly. This type of innocence is very rare and paired with his changing appearance, he was the perfect target for criticism and mockery.
